In March 1970, the Senior Class made history by winning the annual Winter Carnival for three consecutive years. 1970 marked the sixth year of this tradition, sponsored by the Student Council, which continued until 1979. The week began with the Miss Morgan contest with Diane Clark selected as Miss Morgan. On Friday of that week Miss Morgan served as the MC for a two hour variety show which included almost fifty individual acts. The Junior Class placed first in this event.
Over 400 students participated on Saturday, competing in over 25 different events. The Senior Class took an early lead but the other classes competed with “more spirit and determination than many classes have in recent years”. Events included a grinder eating contest, a pie eating contest, basketball, volleyball, fox and geese, arm wrestling, chess, a spelling bee, and a scavenger hunt, just to name a few. The day concluded with the naming of “Mr.Legs” followed by a dance in the evening featuring the band "The New Breed". Over 500 people attended and the students were pleased that over 75% of the faculty participated in one way or another during the week. Each year the proceeds were donated to a cause voted upon by the Student Council.
