A Reunion of All Graduates of The Morgan School

Morgan Alumni Triennial Reunion Past and Present

In June of 1935 the Eighth Triennial Reunion and Banquet of the Alumni Association of The Morgan School was held in the auditorium of the Clinton Public School, now known as the Abraham Pierson School.  Graduates filed in as the roll of classes were announced.  The tables were decorated with blue and white flowers and arranged to represent the letter M.  Morgan banners hung on the walls and a five piece orchestra played during the turkey dinner and for the dancing that took place later in the evening. The oldest graduate to attend was Colin S. Buell, Morgan 1880.  There were a number of speakers followed by the annual business meeting when officers of the Association were nominated and voted into office.  The evening continued with an entertainment program which included a quartet of singers, a scarf dance, the Harmony Jesters of Cheshire and an acrobatic dance.  The entertainment concluded with numbers sung by the Hull family.  The auditorium was then cleared for dancing which lasted until midnight.  The event was reported in the June 27, 1935 edition of the Clinton Recorder which cost three cents to purchase.

In July 2012 the 17th Triennial Reunion will take place at the Andrews Memorial.  This will be a far less formal event with the focus being a general gathering of alumni finding old friends, making new ones, with hors d'oeuvres and beverages provided. It is hoped to honor the families that have the most generations of graduates as well as the families with the highest number of graduates across the years.

Further information will be forthcoming after the next meeting of the Alumni Association which will be held Wednesday, February 22nd at 6:30 pm.  The meeting will take place at the George Flynn Library located at 103 East Main Street at the rear of the Old Brick, Clinton Historical Society.  All graduates are welcome to attend.  Help is needed on all aspects of the reunion. For further information contact April Godwin Shuman at mamashu@yahoo.com
