Mark your calendars!&nbsp;&nbsp;"Sharing Our Love of Music"&nbsp;will be presented by&nbsp;THE MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL VOCAL CHORDS (MHVC)&nbsp;on Saturday, May 4th at 7:00pm at Portland High School, 95 High St., Portland.
Join us for a festive evening of music as our 90 voice chorus and 10 piece orchestra proudly perform a variety of musical favorites to enhance this spring season.
Samuel Tucker, our Music Director, has arranged a beautifully eclectic program that highlights the wide-ranging talents of this chorus.&nbsp; Musical pieces include patriotic arrangements, "The Battle Hymn", "An American Trilogy" as well as some newer pieces like "A Million Dreams" and medley from "The Temptations".&nbsp; Old favorites include "When the Saints go Marching In", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Singing in the Rain".&nbsp;&nbsp;Alan Dougherty, our first-rate accompanist and his 10 piece orchestra will have you tapping your toes and singing along!
Proceeds from the concert are returned to the community in the form of scholarships presented to graduating Middlesex County high school seniors pursuing a career in nursing or music.&nbsp; Thus far, we have awarded $84,500 .&nbsp; We are most grateful to Middlesex Health and to you, our loyal followers for your continued support.&nbsp; Hope you can join us.&nbsp;&nbsp;

We will walk you through breath work and meditative exercises that will further ground you and offer a refreshing reset.

Dr. Elliot Horch of the Southern Connecticut University Physics Department will give a talk titled:
"Ultra-High Resolution in a Suitcase: Measuring Stellar Diameters with the Southern Connecticut Stellar Interferometer (SCSI)"
The talk will run from 7:30-8:30 PM and if the weather conditions are agreeable we will adjourn to our regular observing session on the main field.
Please feel free to arrive around 7 PM to set up your telescope.
We'll meet in Clifton Hall.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bring your interest, bring a scope/binos, and bring a friend! You don't need any experience, only an interest in all things astronomy.

Join us for Astronomy night in the park on May 11th
We're excited to announce the next Family Astronomy Night on Saturday, May 11th at 8pm. Members of the Astronomical Society of New Haven, Shoreline Astronomical Society and the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society will have their telescopes set up to show you some of the best objects in the early spring sky.

Members of the Astronomical Society of New Haven and the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society will have their telescopes set up to show you some of the best objects in the spring sky. If the skies are clear, we will be able to see the crescent moon, star clusters, nebulae, galaxies, and many more fascinating objects in deep space.
Bring binoculars if you have them so you can do your own exploring in between looks through the big telescopes. If you bring a flashlight, please cover it with red cellophane or red plastic to preserve everyone’s night vision.

you ever wanted to hold a live Osprey in your hands? What if you had to cross a
mucky salt marsh in your bare feet to do it?&nbsp;
Pamela has developed an engaging
video and slide PowerPoint presentation of her work while weekly volunteering
with Mass Audubon and the Southcoast Osprey Nest Monitoring Project on the
Westport River at Allen’s Pond.&nbsp;
Slides include the process of checking nests,
counting eggs, and video of day-old baby Ospreys (rarely seen in person). She
will give a “demo” of banding chicks with an audience participant and describe
the translocation of chicks (for the Illinois translocation project).&nbsp;Photographs which inspired her watercolor paintings, the importance of human
connection, and finally a “therapy session” with Mother Earth on how to work
together to help heal our
environment are all themes of this exciting presentation.
