Please stop making excuses that this isn't safe for your kids. Is all the broken glass on theRead Morebeach safe? Is the litter that blows against the unsightly torn landscape fabric fence safe for your kids? How about the syringe I found last week in the parking lot? Or the lack of life guards. It's not safe for anyone, the wildlife around us, or our furry friends. 16 stitches last summer in my 6 year old child's foot from broken glass. Yes, these are all problems everywhere but it's specifically bad in here in Clinton. It literally hurts me when I read these comments about protecting your kids from the dog park. Some people aren't fortunate enough to have a family of their own so their pets become more than just pets; their children. Some live by them selves; their protection. Some need them for health reasons; their comfort. A place other than your home (or the too small of a park off glenwood) to bring your 4 legged family members is a nice thought just not practical here at our beach. I am opposed to the dog park at the beach, it's simply not a large enough space to add such a thing. A great idea just not practical. If it were a large space like Hammonasset with an area dedicated to dogs then great. But people, please stop using silly excuses of why this is a bad idea and please please be kinder to one another. Just because you may not have a dog of your own (MARK) please try not to forget that they are more than dogs to some people. And EVERYONE please follow all the rules and laws here in our town. NO dogs off the leash, NO littering and BE NICE to one another.

Last June there was an article written on Patch where the BOS shot down the proposal to ban dogsRead Morefro m the Town Beach during the summer months. At the end of the article there was mention of ordering signs and dog stations be put up. I haven't noticed if that was done or not. I am guessing since the dog ban got shot down, this is the new proposal? As it stands now, my understanding is dogs on a leash shorter than 10' are allowed on the beach. So this dog park would be built to curb the behavior of the people that are violating the ordinance already in place by having their dogs unleashed at the beach and/or not picking up after them? I must be missing something, because I honestly cannot see how this will correct the poor pet ownership habits of those that do not even follow the rules as they currently exist. Short of enforcement, this seems like it will accomplish nothing.

This is what I was talking about, taking pride in what we have. Yes, these committees, do a niceRead Morejob , but this is only a certain few, and many of the people I've seen out there filling the buckets with plants or cleaning up around the bank, are older people, who DO take pride in what they do. I was sitting in my car one day, waiting for the light to turn, when I noticed a young mother on the side with her child. The child was wacking the plants and the mother did nothing. Then another time, In the parking lot behind the stores in town, I noticed a woman, throwing a dirty diaper out under her car. When I told her that she should pick it up and throw it in one of the garbage bins. I was told by her to go F--- myself. Sure, you work hard to try and make things look better in town, but the rest of the town needs a lot of help too. If we could only get people to stop throwing their junk out of car windows, That alone would be a big help.

Joan, next time you see someone throwing something out their window, take down their license plateRead Moren umber and a description of the car and go to the police. We have an awesome police department that are in place to enforce our laws.

So what can we all do? We have to get to the little ones...some parents are not teaching their kids Read Morenot to litter or respect other people's property. The person...can't get myself to call her a lady... With the dirty diaper is just a pig period. I wish we could all come up with a way...should the schools teach more of....how are WE going to save this planet of ours. Earth day is April 22...should we make a BIG DEAL out of it...Donna is right.. Last year as we celebrated 350 years. Pride was there....come on Clintonians.... We have a few problems but this really is a town with great people....let us unite and fix it!!!!
