Voluntary Evacuation Encouraged

For Those Living South Of I-95, Officials Say You May Want To Move To Drier Land

After meeting with the town's Emergency Response Team this morning, First Selectman Willie Fritz said they concurred that a voluntary evacuation for those living south of I-95 or in low-lying areas was a smart idea.

"We have two good days before the storm hits," said Fritz on Friday. "I encourage those who have family or friends living inland to go stay with them."

"If the storm hits Clinton, town hall will be open on Sunday," said Fritz.

There is no published evacuation route, said Fritz.

The emergency response team is composed of the director, Anastasios Clados, fire and police chiefs, fire marshal, superintendent of schools, director of the Department of Public Works, the regional health director, and the technology director.

They are holding a second meeting Saturday morning. This meeting is not open to the public, but look to Patch for further details.
