Featuring Valedictorian Krupa Patel And Salutatorian Abraham Romero

The following are the top 10 students, academically, in the class of 2011 for The Morgan School. Please send them your congratulations!!

 

Valedictorian #l-Krupa Patel is the daughter of Jagdish and Usha Patel:

Krupa is the president of National Honor Society and Amnesty International. She is the vice president of French Honor Society, treasurer of French Club, and secretary of the Environmental Club.  She is also a member of Mock Trial, Interact, High School Bowl, Morgan SADD, GSA, Uganda Club, Peer Advocates, and the Literary Magazine and Husky Herald staff. She has been cheerleading during Morgan football seasons for the past two years. In addition to participating in school activities, Krupa volunteers at Clinton Youth and Family Service Bureau’s Summer Partner’s Program. Krupa will be in Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Pre-Med Program next year and will major in Biomedical Engineering. 

Salutatorian, #2-Abraham Romero is the son of Manuel and Ana Romero.

Abraham is president of the French National Honor Society at Morgan and the Morgan French Club.  He is co-captain of the Morgan Tennis Team, which he has participated in since his freshman year.  He also participates in a wide array of diverse programs offered at Morgan including High School Bowl, Amnesty International, Political Club and Math Team.  Abraham was this year's winner of the Poetry Out Loud contest. Over the summer, Abraham worked in New Haven’s Youth at Work Program, helping the Courtland Wilson Library provide community programs for The City of New Haven. Abraham will pursue a liberal education at Stanford University this fall.

#3-Mark Foster is the son of Jon and Rita Foster.

Mark is a member of the High School Bowl Team, National Honor Society and French Honor Society.  He has been on both the Morgan cross-country team and tennis team for four years.  He was also named a Morgan Scholar and CAPT Scholar and was awarded the Yale Book Award.  He likes to program flash games in his spare time. Mark will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute and plans to major in Computer Science.

#4-Katharine Gosselin is the daughter of Michael and Gail Gosselin.

Katharine has volunteered for the English as a Second Language program at the elementary school as well as Hike It, a summer program for young children, and has also volunteered at Forgotten Felines.  She is a member of the National Honors and French Honors Societies.  She has participated in basketball, volleyball and lacrosse.  She is the secretary of the Morgan Student Council and the president of the Political Club, and has been a member of both clubs for four years.  Katharine has also been a member of Mock Trial, American Field Service and Interact Club.  She was named both a Morgan and CAPT Scholar. Katharine will be attending Northeastern University where she plans to pursue a major in Cultural Anthropology.

#5-Anna Bencivengo is the daughter of Nicholas and Laura Bencivengo.

Anna is a member of National Honor Society and secretary of the French National Honor Society.  She is involved with Morgan chorus and chamber choir; between Morgan and Clinton Family Theatre, she has been in seventeen musicals. Anna received the St. Michael’s College Book Award and recently received the Shoreline’s Top Talent 2011 Scholarship in Vocal Music from the Shoreline Arts Alliance. Outside of school, Anna can usually be found at the Dance Corner in Killingworth where she has danced for the past fourteen years.  She has been active in Girl Scouts since kindergarten and sings in the Holy Advent Church choir.  Anna will attend Marist College this fall where she will major in communications and minor in music.

#6-Sam Sarkisian is the son of Lisa and Peter Sarkisian.

Sam has been an avid member of the Morgan Music Department, performing in both band and chorus, including several musicals.  He is vice-president of the National Honor Society and an active member in Student Council, Amnesty International and Morgan Yearbook.  He participates in indoor and outdoor track.  Outside of school, Sam loves to take pictures, he even does it as his job at BEAR Sports.  He enjoys playing guitar and writing music and plays. Sam will attend Boston University to pursue an English degree and minor in music.

#7-Cara Cifferelli is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Anne Cifferelli.

Cara is an active member of the Morgan Band, High School Bowl, National and Spanish Honor Society, French Club, Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), and has performed in seven Morgan and Clinton Family Theater productions.  She has played tennis for three years, and was editor of the Husky Herald school newspaper for two years.  She received recognition for her college essay in the Shoreline Heads of English Departments writing contest, and was a CAPT Scholar and a finalist in the school-wide Poetry-Out-Loud competition.  Cara has participated in Girl Scouts in Clinton for thirteen years. Cara will attend New York University in the fall at the College of Arts and Sciences.

#8-Sara Boudreau is the daughter of Robert and Renee Boudreau.

Sara is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society.  She was named a Morgan Scholar as well as Connecticut Association of Schools Scholar Athlete of 2011.  She will graduate with an honors diploma.  Sara is the vice-president of the student council, a member of the Morgan Peer Advocates, a DARE Role Model and a student representative for Clinton Youth and Family Service Bureau.  She has played varsity soccer for three years and was captain during the 2010 season.  Sara also played premiere travel soccer for both Guilford Soccer Club and Southeast Soccer Club. Sara will be attending Elon University in North Carolina where she plans to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant.

#9-Ashley Hicks is the daughter of Laura and Jordan Hicks.

Ashley’s principle interests are writing and theater.  Her college essay was published in the magazine Teen Ink, and she holds the position of editor for the Husky Herald, Morgan’s school newspaper. Ashley has been in eight school musicals, including this year’s Annie Get Your Gun as Mrs. Wilson.  She is involved in many organizations which includes Girl Scouts, SADD, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, French Club, and High School Bowl.  Ashley has played clarinet for nine years. Ashley will attend New York University’s liberal studies program at their campus in London.

#10-Mckenzie Taylor is the daughter of Scott and Claudette Taylor.

Mckenzie is treasurer of Morgan’s Student Council.  She is an active member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society.  She has participated in math team and lacrosse all four years, earning a varsity letter sophomore year.  Mckenzie has been skating since the age of five, and continued her passion throughout high school.  This past April, she travelled to Helsinki, Finland to compete in the 2011 World Synchronized Skating Championships where her team earned the bronze medal.  Last summer, she volunteered at the Middlesex Hospital Shoreline Clinic and has previously participated in Race for the Cure as both a volunteer and runner. Mckenzie will attend East Carolina University where she plans to study clinical lab science.
