Score One For The Home Team: Clinton Rotary!

The scoreboard at the has come full circle.  Once a shining new gift from the , after many years it needed refurbishing.

Who came to the rescue? Rotary.

At a recent presentation at the , the members of Clinton Rotary Club presented a check in the amount of $1,947.66 to the town's

According to Clinton Rotary secretary Dee Tully, the club originally donated the scoreboard and when, last year, it was decided that it needed to be "updated" and "refurbished," they were approached by Bob Potter, director of the Park & Recreation Department and Harry Swaun, chairman of the Park & Recreation Commission, to see if the club would have an interest in helping out the town.

The scoreboard was mended, jazzed up and hung back in its place of honor at the recreational complex.

Who's Keeping Score?

The scoreboard at the Ethel Peters' Complex has been doing the job of keeping track of the good numbers (When Morgan Wins!) and the not so good numbers (When Morgan Loses!) for decades. This original, faithful but antiquated "number counter" was donated by the Clinton Rotary Club. Now it's time for a "Make Over."  Again, the Rotary has come forward with funds to refurbish and provide a modern scoring facility at the Peters' Complex. Adding a much deserved recognition, the scoreboard has been dedicated in memory of Eugene E. Stickney, a gentleman extensively involved with the recreational functions of the Clinton Park and Recreation Department. "Gene," a retired Connecticut State Trooper and Westbrook resident, was a welcomed asset to Clinton's Park and Recreation Department. The updated scoreboard will keep Gene's memory high scored!!
