A message from the Middlesex United Way:

Middlesex United Way is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has approved a total of $24,950 in funding to six programs working in the areas of school readiness or affordable housing, including a $1,500 grant to Best Beginnings in Clinton.

As Middlesex United Way continues to address the underlying causes of serious community conditions, United Way volunteers and staff seek to support programs focusing on prevention. The funding approved for Best Beginnings fits into United Way’s Education focus area with the goal of increasing children’s readiness to learn by school entry.

The funding to Best Beginnings, Clinton’s Early Childhood Council (ECC), is targeted to improve the organization’s technological capacity through the purchase of a computer and printer, and with any remaining funds to implement a back-up system for their database.

The computer would allow Best Beginnings to strengthen resource and referral services presently provided to Clinton families. It will help continue the growth and development of Best Beginnings that has been established over the last six years of the program’s initial six-year grant from United Way.

“Best Beginnings is pleased to be the recipient of a grant from Middlesex United Way to use for purchasing a laptop computer and mobile printer,” says Linda Stuhlman, Director of the Best Beginnings program. “This technology will allow the early education consultant and the community outreach worker as well as designated Early Childhood Council members the opportunity to work with families on site. The computer will unify valuable information that will help Best Beginnings continue to make progress toward the goal of school readiness by kindergarten of all children in the town of Clinton."
